Diabetes Young People SIG (Youth and Young Adults)

The Diabetes Young People Special Interest Group (DYPSIG) was established in 2016 to connect health professionals in Aotearoa who support young people with diabetes (15-25 years).  Recognising the unique social and psychological challenges of this age group, DYPSIG promotes collaboration, supports best practice, and advocates for well-resourced services to provide excellent diabetes care for young people.
DYPSIG aims to:
  • Foster networking, communication, education and innovation among professionals across all disciplines.
  • Promote the best standard of care for youth and young adults with diabetes, striving for optimal and equitable outcomes.
  • Support for clinicians working in resource-limited settings.
  • Be a source of expertise.
  • Develop projects aligned with best practice and strategic priorities of NZSSD.
  • Build partnerships with organisations supporting young people.
