The Diabetes Young People Special Interest Group (DYPSIG) was established in 2016 to connect health professionals in Aotearoa who support young people with diabetes (15-25 years). Recognising the unique social and psychological challenges of this age group, DYPSIG promotes collaboration, supports best practice, and advocates for well-resourced services to provide excellent diabetes care for young people.
DYPSIG aims to:
- Foster networking, communication, education and innovation among professionals across all disciplines.
- Promote the best standard of care for youth and young adults with diabetes, striving for optimal and equitable outcomes.
- Support for clinicians working in resource-limited settings.
- Be a source of expertise.
- Develop projects aligned with best practice and strategic priorities of NZSSD.
- Build partnerships with organisations supporting young people.
